America’s favorite game is back and The Sports Bank has you covered with the best and worst of what was Fantasy Football Week Eight.
With four of the top five fantasy performances this past weekend, the running back has retained the status as the game’s alpha-dog.

Fantasy MVP: RB LeSean McCoy (30 RUSH, 200 total YDS and 2 TD = 31 points)
The Philadelphia Eagles may be finally catching up to their “Dream Team,” designation, but McCoy has been at the level all season. He’s a top-five fantasy back and has scored a touchdown in every game this season. McCoy also has four games of over 100 yards rushing and just might be 2011’s Fantasy MVP. He’s also a stud in PPR leagues with two or more receptions in every game this season. In week nine, McCoy opposes another dynamic running back in Matt Forte and the Chicago Bears; should be fun to watch the two battle for more total yards than one another.
Honorable Mention: RB Steven Jackson (30 points), Lions D/ST (29 points), RB Adrian Peterson (27 points) and RB Ray Rice (27 points)
Disappointing Performance of the Week: RB Chris Johnson (14 ATT and 34 YDS = 4 points)Image may be NSFW.

For those of you who drafted Johnson high, I know you don’t want to hear it, but it’s probably time to consider benching the guy. Against a soft Colts’ defense, he averaged less than three yards per carry and didn’t come close to reaching the end-zone. To make matters worse, back-up Javon Ringer received the same amount of carries. Johnson is not only the biggest disappointment of the week, but of the year as well.
Wasting Away (Best Bench Player): QB Eli Manning (31/45, 349 YDS and 2 TD = 21 points)
Manning is owned in 100 percent of leagues, but started in less than half (43.1 %) of them. It’s a shame as Manning has proven to be a top-ten QB this year. In three of his last four games, Peyton’s little brother has thrown for over 300 yards, including 420 against the Seattle Seahawks. The Giants love the throw the ball and Manning has found the end-zone (13 TD) more often than throwing to opposing players (5 INT). I absolutely love his match-up with the Patriots in week nine, perhaps you saw what Big Ben did to the Pats’ D.
Somebody Pick Me Up (Best Free Agent): WR Laurent Robinson (5 REC, 103 YDS and 1 TD = 16 points)Image may be NSFW.

Owned in only 1.0 percent of leagues, Robinson is at least worth a look. Yes, he may have had a wide-open 70 yard touchdown and teammates Dez Bryant/Miles Austin are much better, but Robinson did have eight targets and appeared to be a functional part of the Cowboys’ offense. The Cowboys aren’t playing very well right now, so expect them to continue to throw the ball in an attempt to cut deficits. Upcoming match-ups with Seattle and Buffalo should provide opportunities for Robinson.
Bills TE Scott Chandler (25.8 %), Eagles TE Brent Celek (5.5 %), Steelers WR Antonio Brown (23.7 %) and Lions WR Titus Young (3.1 %) should also be considered for roster spots in the upcoming week.
Hurts So Bad (Worst Injury): Montario Hardesty (Calf Muscle)
It was actually a quiet week on the injury front. Don’t tell that to the Cleveland Browns though who are already dealing with an ailing Peyton Hillis (hamstring) and now will have to do without Hardesty for a little while. The next back in line in Cleveland will be Chris Ogbonnaya, the second year man out of Texas. After Hardesty left with an injury, Ogbonnaya rushed 11 times for 37 yards and collected four passes for 16 yards.
